“‘Centrism’ is neither a virtue nor an act of pragmatism. It’s a position adopted by those who are comfortable enough w/n the status quo that their primary concern is to never rock the boat, even if that means searching for middle ground b/w a fascist coup & a foundering democracy.” — Bree Newsome Bass

CDC warns America: Do not travel for Thanksgiving. It was a last-minute attempt by the nation's leading public health agency to curb what's sure to be yet another dangerous spike in Covid-19 cases if families gather next week.
As pandemic surges, Trump White House calls Thanksgiving restrictions 'Orwellian'. As COVID-19 spikes dramatically across the country and Americans struggle to decide how many family members should gather, or whether to do so at all, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said leaving it to individuals how to deal with the virus was "the American way."...”We don't lose our freedom in this country. We make responsible health decisions as individuals." — Seriously, that line cracks me up. “Responsible health decisions as individuals.” LOLOLOL. Someone get me a tissue. I’m crying over here.
Ocasio-Cortez on controlling COVID-19: "We need to pay people to stay home". -- Yes, yes we do. “Republicans are mad at this when they literally just voted to do just this in March,” she added, referencing the single $1,200 stimulus payment to individuals that Congress authorized. “The reason they’re opposed to it now is because last time they got a Wall Street bailout and this time all that’s left is helping working people, the disabled, the poor, etc.” -- We all lose when you vote Republican.
President Donald Trump told an ally that he knows he lost, but that he is delaying the transition process and is aggressively trying to sow doubt about the election results in order to get back at Democrats for questioning the legitimacy of his own election in 2016, especially with the Russia investigation, a source familiar with the President's thinking told CNN on Thursday. -- He is such a vengeful, petty little man.
Christopher Krebs, the top federal cybersecurity official who was fired by President Trump this week, called Thursday's press conference held by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani and other Republicans some of the "most dangerous" television in U.S. history. "That press conference was the most dangerous 1hr 45 minutes of television in American history. And possibly the craziest," Krebs tweeted. "If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're lucky."
Analysis: Trump’s bid to spread misinformation and sow doubt. President Donald Trump is trying to turn America’s free and fair election into a muddled mess of misinformation, specious legal claims and baseless attacks on the underpinnings of the nation’s democracy. The resulting chaos and confusion that has created isn’t the byproduct of Trump’s strategy following his defeat to Democrat Joe Biden. The chaos and confusion is the strategy.
The top two leaders in the Republican-controlled Michigan Legislature are expected to visit the White House Friday...But Trump's campaign suggested in a Thursday statement the Wayne County Board of Canvassers didn't certify the results in Michigan's largest county. Two Republican members of the Wayne County canvassers agreed to certify the results on Tuesday night but have since signed affidavits saying they regretted their votes and would like to rescind them...As it stands, Republicans have not uncovered evidence that would suggest widespread voter fraud and throw the results into question. Biden won Michigan by 14 times the number of votes Trump won the state by four years earlier. — Hmm. I’m thinking Trump wants to promise them things, which of course needs to be done face to face.
Trump targets vote certification in late bid to block Biden. In Wayne County, the two Republican canvassers at first balked at certifying the vote, winning praise from Trump, and then reversed course after widespread condemnation. A person familiar with the matter said Trump reached out to the canvassers, Monica Palmer and William Hartmann, on Tuesday evening after the revised vote to express gratitude for their support. Then, on Wednesday, Palmer and Hartmann signed affidavits saying they believe the county vote “should not be certified.”...Some in the Republican president’s orbit have held out hope that by delaying certification, GOP-controlled state legislatures will get a chance to select different electors, either overturning Biden’s victory or sending it to the House, where Trump would almost surely win.
Giuliani, flailing, says Venezuela, Clinton and Soros hatched 'centralized plan' to steal election for Biden. The president’s legal team offered no evidence to support their claims, yet berated the media for not covering them. “I know crimes. I can smell them,” Giuliani said. “You don’t have to smell this one.” — Yes, Rudy. You do know crimes. You have committed many.
Trump Campaign Officials Started Pressuring Georgia’s Secretary of State Long Before the Election. The Republican secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, rejected repeated demands to endorse Trump. As the official overseeing the voting, he believed he should remain neutral. The attacks on his job performance are “clear retaliation,” Raffensperger said. “They thought Georgia was a layup shot Republican win. It is not the job of the secretary of state’s office to deliver a win — it is the sole responsibility of the Georgia Republican Party to get out the vote and get its voters to the polls. That is not the job of the secretary of state’s office.”
Alex Azar, HHS secretary, says department won't work with Biden's team until federal agency determines he won.
Trump's legal adviser Jenna Ellis in 2016 called him an 'idiot' and said his supporters didn't care about 'facts or logic'. Jenna Ellis has been one of President Donald Trump's most ardent defenders since joining his campaign as a legal adviser and surrogate a year ago, but in early 2016 she was one of his toughest critics and deeply opposed his candidacy...Ellis, an attorney and former law professor from Colorado, repeatedly slammed then-candidate Trump as an "idiot," who was "boorish and arrogant," and a "bully" whose words could not be trusted as factually accurate. She called comments he made about women "disgusting," and suggested he was not a "real Christian." — But she fell in line like the rest of them.
Two months before Joe Biden assumes the presidency, Senate Republicans are racing to install a series of conservative nominees that will outlast Donald Trump. While Trump still refuses to concede the election, the Senate GOP is moving quickly to ensure that the president’s stamp sticks to the Federal Elections Commission, Federal Reserve Board, the federal judiciary and beyond. — Because Mitch McConnell is the worst person on the planet.
Senate confirms Trump’s youngest federal judge to serve in Tampa. The American Bar Association sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee in September saying that, despite her credentials, Mizelle’s lack of trial experience renders her unqualified to be appointed to the federal judiciary...But her resume isn’t what gave the American Bar Association pause. It’s that she has only taken part in two trials — each was a one-day trial in state court conducted while she was an intern. She has never tried a criminal or civil case, even as co-counsel, since being admitted to the Bar eight years ago...She is the 227th Trump nominee confirmed to a lifetime appointment to the federal bench. She is also the eighth rated “not qualified” by the American Bar Association to be confirmed during the Trump presidency. — She is 33 and now has a lifetime appointment as a federal judge.
Arizona’s top election official Katie Hobbs said on Wednesday she faced escalating threats of violence over the outcome of the Nov. 3 presidential election, and blamed President Donald Trump for spreading misinformation to undermine trust in the results.
Dominion employees latest to face threats, harassment in wake of Trump conspiracy. The voting machine company that has faced two weeks of false fraud claims from President Donald Trump told ABC News Wednesday their employees have been the subject of threats and online harassment -- the latest sign that Trump's freewheeling online rhetoric has real-world consequences.
The Trump White House blocked the Justice Department from making a deal in October 2019 to pay for mental health services for migrant families who had been separated by the Trump administration...”Ultimately, it was Stephen [Miller] who prevailed. He squashed it."
Disturbing new details in alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. New filings claim there was a Plan B the militiamen had drawn up, that involved a takeover of the Michigan capitol building by 200 combatants who would stage a week-long series of televised executions of public officials. And, according to government documents now on file in lower Michigan court, there was also a Plan C -- burning down the state house, leaving no survivors.
