And another day of white domestic terrorism, white privilege, and the terrorists getting love from their beloved leader who incited it all in the first place comes to a close:

“If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed.......and we will deserve it.” — Lindsey Graham, May 3, 2016

“In other nations, when demonstrators, urged by a cornered president, try to take over the capitol building it’s called a coup. Nothing else.” — Richard Engel

“And when we told you he was an authoritarian in 2016, you told us we were being hysterical.” — Amy Siskind

“This would never have happened if Fox “News,” OAN, Newsmax, Mark Levin, Daily Wire, & all the rest had not been spreading poisonous lies about the election. This would never have happened if 100+ House members and 13 senators had not endorsed those lies.” -- Max Boot

“In the end, our measure during this dark period in American history comes down to only one thing: You either actively stood up to Trump or you made this horror possible. What is done is done. What is left undone is left undone. You are what you did or did not do in this time.” — Walter Shaub

“If they get away with this it will be worse next time. I promise you.” — Adam Serwer

Trump supporters storm the US Capitol. Thousands of Trump supporters gathered in Washington, DC, for what Trump dubbed a “Save America Rally,” a two-day protest meant to demonstrate support for the disproven conspiracy theory that widespread fraud marred the 2020 presidential election — and that Trump, rather than Biden, is the rightful winner of that contest.

Donald Trump Is Now a Terrorist Leader. The attack on the Capitol is the culmination of Trumpism, and the GOP owns this.

“I know your pain. I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side. But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt. It’s a very tough period of time. There’s never been a time like this where such a thing happened. Where they could take it away from all of us: From me, from you, from our country. This was a fraudulent election, but we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So, go home. We love you. You are very special. You’ve seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad, so evil. I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace.” -- President Donald Trump

At Today’s Riot, Trump’s Trolls Turned Their Violent Fantasies Into Reality. On Wednesday, the United States arrived at peak disinformation singularity. The lines between right-wing conspiracy internet forums and physical reality disappeared. Pro-Trump extremists stormed the capital as online trolls who had spent years threatening violence fully realized themselves, making it clear that they had never really been just trolling.

"To those who engaged in the gleeful desecration of this — our temple of Democracy, American Democracy — justice will be done," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. -- It better be.

Last year, Trump said peaceful protesters of police brutality should be met with an “overwhelming law enforcement presence.” Today, as pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol, he said, “We love you,” and asked them to go home. — Fucking racist.

Hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol — but few have been arrested so far. -- White privilege at its finest. They had no problem arresting and gassing people at Black Lives Matters protests. And this wasn’t even a “protest.” It was an insurrection.

“White Americans aren’t afraid of the cops. White Americans are never afraid of the cops, even when they’re committing an insurrection.” -- Joy Ann Reid

What Will It Take To End The COVID-19 Pandemic? Health experts agree that, to end the pandemic, the world needs to immunize a large percentage of Earth's population. And that population needs to be distributed evenly, not clustered in wealthy countries. Otherwise, we'll end up in the situation in which COVID-19 becomes a disease of the poor – that is, the virus is largely under control in rich countries but still circulating in many poor countries, says Niko Lusiani, who's a senior adviser with charity organization Oxfam. "We don't want to sit in an island in the world where rich countries are fully immunized, while the rest of the world is dying from COVID," he says. "That's just not a morally convenient place to be for most people." — I’m sure there are some people who would have no problem with that.

A second new strain of COVID spreads fear in Britain as Boris Johnson dithers. Now the second variant, from South Africa, is further alarming health officials, with Matt Hancock, Britain’s health secretary, telling BBC radio on Monday that he’s “incredibly worried” about the South African variant, which poses “a very, very significant problem.” Scientists say there’s reason to think that existing vaccines may not offer full protection against the new variant, which thus far has not shown up in the U.S.
