And another day of everyone on their own, a certain of group of women that may possibly be at a higher risk for Covid, the mob made me do it, electric airplanes, TikTok spreads homophobic+ content, and three-year waits to see the dentist comes to a close:

In a nation of economic extremes, all Indians are now on their own when a pandemic wave hits their city. But when a pandemic wave hits, everyone is on their own. The poor. The rich. The well-connected bureaucrats who hold immense sway here, and the people who clean the sewers. Wealthy businessmen fight for hospital beds, and powerful government officials send tweets begging for oxygen. Middle-class families scrounge wood for funeral pyres, and in places where there’s no wood to be found, hundreds of families have been forced to dump their relatives’ bodies into the Ganges River. The rich and well-connected, of course, still have money and contacts to smooth the search for ICU beds and oxygen tanks. But rich and poor alike have been left gasping for breath outside overflowing hospitals.
The women possibly at higher risk for Covid-19 that no one is talking about. More than a year into the pandemic, one study has found that some women are at higher risk for Covid-19 compared to others in their age and sex groups. These women, often young and otherwise healthy like Aguilar, have an underlying condition that isn't mentioned on any Covid-19 comorbidity list: polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS.
Faced with anti-vaccination parents, teens are helping each other get Covid shots.
The mob made me do it: Rioters claim Jan. 6 crowd at fault. Judges typically don’t let defendants assert at trial that outside influences, be it drugs or peer pressure, made them act as they did. Most judges would reject efforts by rioters’ lawyers to use any iteration of a blame-the-crowd defense, legal experts say...But there’s some precedent for a version of the argument succeeding at trial. — And I remember watching that incident as it happened on live television. Disgusting.
A mass shooting at a house party with hundreds of guests leaves 2 dead and 12 others shot.
To really slash emissions, we're going to need electric airplanes. “Industry used to scoff at the idea,” but now “they are very interested.”
TikTok is spreading violent homophobic and transphobic content, report finds. The report, published on Tuesday (18 May), found TikTok’s recommendation algorithm – which determines the videos that appear on a user’s page – is promoting content that encourages violence against the LGBT+ community.

Growing mystery of suspected energy attacks draws US concern. The Biden administration is facing new pressure to resolve a mystery that has vexed its predecessors: Is an adversary using a microwave or radio wave weapon to attack the brains of U.S. diplomats, spies and military personnel?
