And another day of more than just about abortion rights, FL prepared to further restrict abortions, Justices cheered at conservative dinner, crypto giant fails, Twitter’s verification process canceled, and the sex life of the Internet comes to a close:

In election, support for abortion rights was about much more. But the future of democracy was an even greater factor than Roe for women voters. In interviews with AP reporters, many women linked their concerns about abortion to fears for the country.

Florida legislative leaders say they are prepared to further restrict abortions. Supercharged by a supermajority in the House and Senate, Florida legislative leaders broke their silence Wednesday and confirmed they are prepared to further tighten abortion restrictions in Florida in the next year.

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly re-elected in Arizona, defeating Republican Blake Masters. It gives Democrats 49 Senate seats, one short of securing a majority, with Nevada still counting votes and Georgia's contest headed to a Dec. 6 runoff.

Trump files lawsuit to avoid Jan. 6 committee subpoena. Former President Donald Trump is suing the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to avoid cooperating with a subpoena requiring him to testify. The suit filed Friday evening contends that, while former presidents have voluntarily agreed to provide testimony or documents in response to congressional subpoenas in the past, “no president or former president has ever been compelled to do so.” -- And there is always a first time for everything.

Justices cheered at conservative group’s anniversary dinner. Four of the five Supreme Court justices who overturned the constitutional right to abortion showed up at the conservative Federalist Society’s black-tie dinner marking its 40th anniversary. Justice Samuel Alito got a long, loud ovation Thursday night from a crowd of 2,000 people, most in tuxedos and gowns, when another speaker praised his opinion in June that overturned Roe v. Wade, long a target of judicial conservatives. At a moment when opinion surveys show that Americans think the court is becoming more political and give it dismal approval ratings, the justices turned out to celebrate the group that helped then-President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans move the American judiciary, including the Supreme Court, to the right.

Crypto giant FTX to file for bankruptcy, CEO Sam Bankman-Fried steps down. The filing represents a staggering turn for the cryptocurrency exchange, once reportedly valued at $32 billion and seen as the face of the crypto industry thanks to its

voluminous marketing and advertising efforts.

Elon Musk’s Chaotic Changes to Twitter’s Verification Process Have Already Been Canceled. Elon Musk’s most recent Twitter experiment has reportedly shut down less than a week after introducing major changes to its verification process. But despite the short life of Twitter Blue, plenty of fun was had. Let’s rewind.

Pentagon and Army sued over decades-old policy barring recruits with HIV. The lawsuit describes the ban on HIV-positive recruits as “incompatible” with modern medical advancements. The policy, the suit notes, has been in place since 1991 — years before the development of groundbreaking medical innovations that eventually transformed HIV from a death sentence into a mostly nontransmittable, manageable condition, with early detection and the right treatment.

Colorado voters decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms. Colorado voters have passed a ballot initiative to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms for people 21 and older and to create state-regulated “healing centers” where participants can experience the drug under supervision.

The Sex Life of the Internet. The first video ever posted on YouTube was of co-founder Jawed Karim making a dick joke. Jennifer Lopez’s famous green Versace dress was essentially the reason for the creation of Google Images. A picture from Playboy was used for decades to test image processing tasks on computers. Sex has essentially created the digital, online world as we know it today, in ways that you probably didn’t know about.

It feels like dogs know just when we need them most. Well, they might, experts say

RIP Kevin Conroy. He was 66.
