And another day of more lawsuits, failing to disclose interviews, semi-automatic rifle bans, shielding gun firms, more shootings, more racism, more attacking trans people, exploding rockets, and Twitter removes previously verified blue check marks comes to a close:

"Tucker Carlson has a blue check. So does Sean Hannity and Elon Musk. The NAACP and NY Times don’t. I’m more than good being one of the latter." — Dan Rather

What’s next for Fox and Dominion? More lawsuits seeking accountability for corrosive 2020 election lies. While the right-wing network will avoid having to apologize or issuing an on-air retraction over the false Dominion claims that infected its air, Fox is still facing another major defamation lawsuit stemming from many of the same lies that were at the heart of the Dominion case. Smartmatic, another voting technology company, sued Fox for defamation following the 2020 election and is seeking $2.7 billion in damages from Fox and other defendants. That lawsuit was filed in New York state courts, and a trial isn’t expected anytime soon.

Judge who suspended abortion pill failed to disclose interviews that discussed social issues. The federal district judge who first suspended the US Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the so-called abortion pill mifepristone failed to disclose during his Senate confirmation process two interviews on Christian talk radio where he discussed social issues such as contraception and gay rights. In undisclosed radio interviews, Matthew Kacsmaryk referred to being gay as “a lifestyle” and expressed concerns that new norms for “people who experience same-sex attraction” would lead to clashes with religious institutions, calling it the latest in a change in sexual norms that began with “no-fault divorce” and “permissive policies on contraception.” -- Fucking asshole. He should be removed from his position.

Semi-automatic rifle ban passes Washington state Legislature. A ban on dozens of semi-automatic rifles cleared the Washington state Legislature on Wednesday and the governor is expected to sign it into law. The high-powered firearms — once banned nationwide — are now the weapon of choice among young men responsible for most of the country’s devastating mass shootings. -- Make sure you read that again: “once banned nationwide.”

Tennessee moves to shield gun firms after school shooting. In the wake of a deadly school shooting last month, Republican lawmakers in Tennessee awarded final passage Tuesday to a proposal that would further protect gun and ammunition dealers, manufacturers and sellers against lawsuits. — Republicans want us to kill each other while they and their friends sit back and get wealthier with no chance of being held accountable.

Cheerleaders shot after one allegedly mistook suspect’s car for her own. Washington and three other cheerleaders from the Austin-area drove back from training to a carpool meeting spot in an HEB grocery store parking lot in Elgin, Texas. Shearer says one of the girls may have mistaken a man’s car for her own, leading to an altercation with him. She reportedly tried to get in the car before noticing the man in the passenger seat. “From what we understand, the guy got out. She jumped back in her car, rolled down the window, went to apologize and say, ‘I’m sorry, I thought this was my car’ and they saw that he had a gun,” Shearer said. Police say multiple shots were fired into the vehicle. Washington and another cheerleader were hit. — Ring the wrong doorbell, get shot. Pull in someone’s driveway to turn around, get shot. Accidentally pull on a car door handle you think is your car, get shot. More guns leads to more of this bullshit.

A basketball rolling into his yard. Add this to the list I made at the end of the previous story.

Common mistakes, uncommon reactions in 4 separate shootings. In the span of six days, seven people across the U.S. have been shot — one fatally — for making one of the most ordinary and unavoidable mistakes in everyday life: showing up at the wrong place.

45 Antioch Police Officers Accused of Sending Racist Texts Messages: Public Defender. The scandal is growing. According to the Contra Costa County Public Defenders' Office, nearly half of Antioch’s police department was involved in the racist and homophobic text chains that have rocked the entire community. In a new letter to the Contra Costa County district attorney, public defender Ellen McDonnell revealed there’s now at least 45 Antioch officers on text chains they call "racist, homophobic and violent against Black people.”…“There are people who are sitting behind bars, based on the testimony of these officers, who are now proven to be incredibly discredited, racist bigots acting under the cover of law.”

IRS agent alleges Hunter Biden probe is being mishandled. An IRS special agent is seeking whistleblower protection to disclose information about what the agent alleges is mishandling of an investigation into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, according to a letter sent to members of Congress. Mark Lytle, the attorney for the IRS whistleblower, wrote to lawmakers Wednesday that his client has information about a “failure to mitigate clear conflicts of interest in the ultimate disposition” of a criminal investigation related to the younger Biden’s taxes and whether he made a false statement in connection with a gun purchase.

House approves trans athlete ban for girls and women’s teams. Transgender athletes whose biological sex assigned at birth was male would be barred from competing on girls or women’s sports teams at federally supported schools and colleges under legislation pushed through Thursday by House Republicans checking off another high-profile item on their social agenda. The bill approved by a 219-203 party-line vote is unlikely to advance further because the Democratic-led Senate will not support it and the White House said President Joe Biden would veto it.

Transgender lawmaker silenced by Montana House speaker. Montana’s House speaker refused to allow a transgender lawmaker to speak on a bill Thursday, two days after a conservative group of lawmakers deliberately misgendered her and called for her to be censured for emotional testimony against a bill seeking to ban gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

Veto stands: Transgender pronouns OK in North Dakota schools. Teachers in North Dakota can still refer to transgender students by the personal pronouns they use, after lawmakers on Monday failed to override the governor’s veto of a controversial bill to place restrictions on educators. House lawmakers fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to block the veto, days after Republican Gov. Doug Burgum’s office announced the veto and the Senate overrode it.

Twitter begins removing blue checks from users who don’t pay. Many of Twitter’s high-profile users are losing the blue checks that helped verify their identity and distinguish them from impostors on the Elon Musk-owned social media platform. -- Because Elon Musk is actively trying to cause confusion and false information to flourish.

SpaceX giant rocket explodes minutes after launch from Texas. SpaceX’s giant new rocket exploded minutes after blasting off on its first test flight Thursday and crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. Elon Musk’s company was aiming to send the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built on a round-the-world trip from the southern tip of Texas, near the Mexican border. The nearly 400-foot (120-meter) Starship carried no people or satellites. -- Hmmm seems he’s trying to run Twitter the way he builds rockets: so they crash and burn and waste a lot of money.

Alec Baldwin charge to be dropped in movie set shooting case. Prosecutors in New Mexico plan to drop an involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin in the fatal 2021 shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the Western film “ Rust,” Baldwin’s attorneys said Thursday.

Until next time, my friends. Stay safe and stay sane. Good night.
