And another day of threats, ‘abortion trafficking’ in ID, the GOP penalizing Democrat lawmakers, Twitter/Musk labels NPR ‘state-affiliated media,’ ‘staggering’ church sex abuse in MD, and a plethora of attacks today alone on trans people comes to a close:

“It's sadly telling that MAGA freaks can't comprehend that we on the left are perfectly fine with prosecuting Democrats who have committed crimes.” — The Rude Pundit

“There are no red states. Only gerrymandered ones.” -- Marmel

Trump judge and his family receive threats after New York arrest. According to one official, “dozens” of threats have recently been directed at Judge Juan Merchan and his chambers, but did not give an exact time frame for them. The other source said that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other top officials in his office continue to receive threats. Those threats, also unsubstantiated, have been in the form of calls, emails and letters. -- Because, as they have proven over and over again, MAGAs only know violence and intimidation. They truly are deplorables.

Idaho Passes Law To Restrict Interstate Travel For Abortion Care For Minors. Idaho just became the first state to implement an interstate travel restriction on abortion care since the Supreme Court repealed federal protections last year. Gov. Brad Little (R) signed a law on Wednesday evening that bans minors from traveling out of state for abortions without parental consent. The law creates a new felony crime called “abortion trafficking,” which the legislation defines as an “adult who, with the intent to conceal an abortion from the parents or guardian of a pregnant, unemancipated minor, either procures an abortion … or obtains an abortion-inducing drug” for the minor. “Recruiting, harboring, or transporting the pregnant minor within this state commits the crime of abortion trafficking,” according to the legislation. The crime of abortion trafficking carries a felony offense punishable by two to five years in prison. The law criminalizes anyone transporting a pregnant minor without parental consent within Idaho to get an abortion or abortion pills, which means it could apply to a grandmother driving a pregnant minor to the post office to pick up a package holding medication abortion or target an older brother driving a pregnant minor to a friend’s house to self-manage an abortion at home.

Washington state purchases three-year supply of abortion pill. Washington state's government said on Tuesday it had purchased a three-year supply of abortion pill mifepristone as a Texas judge mulls a nationwide ban on the medication's sale.

Whitmer strikes 1931 abortion ban from Michigan law. A near-century old abortion ban that fueled one of the largest ballot drives in Michigan history was repealed Wednesday by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, just months after voters enshrined abortion rights in the state’s constitution.

Amid polarization, minority party lawmakers face penalties. Oklahoma Republicans removed the state’s only nonbinary legislator from House committees after the lawmaker provided refuge to a transgender rights activist. In Florida, two Democratic leaders were arrested for participating in a protest over abortion restrictions. And in Tennessee, three Democratic House members are facing expulsion for using a bullhorn in the House chamber to show support for demonstrators demanding gun control. In an increasingly polarized political atmosphere, experts say these kinds of harsh punishments for minority party members standing up for principles they believe in are becoming more common, especially when acts of civil disobedience clash with the rigid policies and procedures of legislative decorum.

NPR protests as Twitter calls it ‘state-affiliated media’. Twitter has labeled National Public Radio as “state-affiliated media” on the social media site, a move some worried Wednesday could undermine public confidence in the news organization...NPR does receive U.S. government funding through grants from federal agencies and departments, along with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The company said it accounts for less than 1% of NPR’s annual operating budget. But until Wednesday, the same Twitter guidelines said that “state-financed media organizations with editorial independence, like the BBC in the UK or NPR in the United States, are not defined as state-affiliated media for the purposes of this policy.” -- Musk is maggot infested dog shit. He grows more authoritarian each day.

Party switch gives GOP veto-proof control in North Carolina. A Democratic state lawmaker in North Carolina announced Wednesday that she is jumping to the Republican Party, giving the GOP veto-proof majorities in both the state’s legislative chambers that should make it easier to enact conservative policies over the opposition of Gov. Roy Cooper.

Report details ‘staggering’ church sex abuse in Maryland. More than 150 Catholic priests and others associated with the Archdiocese of Baltimore sexually abused more than 600 children over the past 80 years, according to a state report released Wednesday that accused church officials of decades of cover-ups. The report paints a damning picture of the archdiocese, which is the oldest Roman Catholic diocese in the country and spans much of Maryland. Some parishes, schools and congregations had more than one abuser at the same time — including St. Mark Parish in Catonsville, which had 11 abusers living and working there between 1964 and 2004. -- Leave the pews. Religion is neither sufficient nor necessary to be a good person.

Indiana, Idaho governors sign bans on gender-affirming care. Republican Governors in Indiana and Idaho have signed into law bills banning gender-affirming care for minors, making those states the latest to prohibit transgender health care as Republican-led legislatures work to restrict LGBTQ+ rights this year. -- Not only do we all lose when you vote Republican, some get targeted because they are merely different.

Transgender student athlete ban on the books in Kansas, following three years of GOP campaigning. Transgender girls are now blocked from playing women’s sports from kindergarten through college, following the Legislature’s successful override of Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of a transgender student athlete ban...The legislation requires children to participate in school activities based on the gender they were assigned at birth, from elementary school to college. Challenges could require them to undergo genital inspections, or require a birth certificate for proof of the child’s gender. -- “Genital inspections.” And this applies for kids in kindergarten through college. Republicans are disgusting human beings. Stop voting for hatred. Stop voting Republican.

Bud Light partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney prompts right-wing backlash. In the two days since Mulvaney’s post about Bud Light, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch, countless videos have been shared online showing consumers dumping their Bud Light products in trash bins and down sinks — and even violently destroying cans of the beer. -- Go ahead and dump or destroy your Bud Light. Anheuser-Busch already took your money. Fucking idiots.

Brazil man kills 4 children with hatchet at day care center. A man with a hatchet burst into a day care center Wednesday in Brazil, killing four children, authorities said, in an attack that shook the country and put pressure on the government to curb a rising tide of violence.

Novel treatment shows promise against rare cancer in kids. The treatment — called CAR-T cell therapy — is already used to help the immune system fight leukemia and other cancers in the blood. This is the first time researchers have achieved such encouraging results in solid tumors, experts in the field said, and raises hopes that it can be used against other kinds of cancers.

Life’s short. Live, love, create, and help others.

Until next time, my friends. Stay safe and stay sane. Good night.
