And another day of Trump supercharging his war on American democracy, shrugging off the charges, DeFascist ends DEI at Disney, driving away teachers, ‘In God We Trust’ in LA classrooms, and ‘UFOs are the story of the century’ comes to a close:

“The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.” -- George Orwell

The New Trump Indictment Will Supercharge His War on American Democracy. Once upon a time, criminal indictments would stop a political campaign dead in its tracks. Not anymore. The Trump crusade is chugging ahead, as this narcissistic, grievance-stirring wannabe-autocrat strives to return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and implement his out-in-the-open plan to transform the federal government into an authoritarian regime. And millions will cheer him on, perhaps even more loudly after he has become the first former president (and current presidential candidate) to be criminally charged as a domestic enemy of the US Constitution. The Trump spell will not be broken. The wheels of justice, which grind exceedingly slow but exceedingly fine, are (finally!) addressing Trump’s alleged crimes. But it will take more than justice to defeat Trumpism.

'Not a shock': Trump world shrugs off charges of defrauding America. Each indictment has further intensified a belief among Trump supporters that the nation’s justice system has been weaponized and politicized by Biden. -- The Republican Party is so broken. They must never have power again.

Under Trump, Texas’ foot soldiers became federal judges, securing a conservative stronghold in the courts. A federal judiciary full of ideological allies is helping Texas block Democratic priorities and advance right-wing legal doctrines. But the bigger prize is conservative control of the rule of law itself.

DeSantis-controlled Disney World district gets rid of all diversity, equity and inclusion programs and staffers. Diversity, equity and inclusion programs were abolished Tuesday from Walt Disney World’s governing district, now controlled by appointees of Gov. Ron DeSantis, in an echo of the Florida governor’s agenda which has championed curtailing such programs in higher education and elsewhere.

Transgender rights targeted in executive order signed by Oklahoma governor. In addition to requiring state agencies and boards to define the words “female” and “male” to correspond with the person’s sex assigned at birth, the executive order also includes definitions for the words “man,” “boy,” “woman,” “girl,” “father” and “mother.” The order specifically defines a female as a “person whose biological reproductive system is designed to produce ova” and a male as a “person whose biological reproductive system is designed to fertilize the ova of a female.” It also directs schools and other state agencies to use these definitions when collecting vital statistics and further directs schools to provide dedicated restrooms and locker room facilities for boys and girls, respectively.

Burnout, low pay and politics are driving away teachers. Turnover is soaring for educators of color. Teachers are leaving jobs in growing numbers, state reports show. The turnover in some cases is highest among teachers of color. A major culprit: stress — from pandemic-era burnout, low pay and the intrusion of politics into classrooms. But the burdens can be heavier in schools serving high-poverty communities that also have higher numbers of teachers of color.

Louisiana public schools now required to display ‘In God We Trust’ in all classrooms. All Louisiana public schools are now required to display the national motto of “In God We Trust” inside of classrooms, under a new law that went into effect on August 1. -- What a bunch of hogwash.

Leah Remini sues Church of Scientology, says she's been threatened and subjected to 'psychological torture'. Actor Leah Remini filed a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology and its leader, David Miscavige, alleging that she has been threatened, harassed and stalked for the past decade.

Mandy Moore’s son was diagnosed with Gianotti-Crosti syndrome. Here’s what that means. Gianotti-Crosti syndrome is a benign rash that usually occurs on the face, buttocks, arms and legs but usually doesn’t involve the scalp, chest or back, said Dr. Shari Lipner, associate professor of clinical dermatology at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York City. The rash is characterized by hard pink bumps that can often be itchy, she added. Those bumps are usually flat at the top, Levoska said.

Atlantic orcas 'learning from adults' to target boats. A strange, dangerous game of targeting and ramming into small sailing and fishing boats is spreading through a population of orcas off Spain's coast…Scientists told the BBC the animals appear to be "playing" with the boats rather than acting aggressively.

The heaviest animal ever may be this ancient whale found in the Peruvian desert. There could be a new contender for heaviest animal to ever live. While today’s blue whale has long held the title, scientists have dug up fossils from an ancient giant that could tip the scales.

UFOs are the story of the century — wake up, America! It may take time for society to come to grips with this historic hearing, but we will be best served by immediately responding as follows:...Our tiny planet orbits a relatively medium-sized star, in a galaxy of over 100 billion stars, among a distribution of several hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe. How arrogant to believe we are the only species that has developed a means for travel between celestial bodies. Now that we are finding out otherwise, we must demand disclosure of what the government knows. Instead of staying asleep at the wheel, we should wake up as a society for the safety, security, and scientific advantages that can be gained.

Life’s short. Live, love, create, and help others.

Until next time, my friends. Stay safe and stay sane. Good night.
